ASDMA has collected and developed a huge database comprising of around 18000 points on 18 different critical utilities & infrastructures i.e Hospitals, Police Stations, Important Govt. Buildings (DC Office, SP Office, SDO civil, SDP Office, Block Development Office, Revenue Circle Office),Educational Institutions which can be used as shelter places during disasters, Community halls, Raised Platform, Veterinary hospitals, Ferry Ghats, ASTC Bus Stations, Water Supply Sources, Places of Public Congregation, Vital Installations, LPG Godowns of refineries, PWD Bridges located in National & State Highway, Railway Stations & Grounds for helipads under the project on “GIS Mapping of Utilities & Infrastructures for Assam”

All these database has been developed in the GIS environment. The usability of these layers in the districts are restricted due to the non-availability of GIS software. Therefore, a user friendly web GIS portal has been developed on google earth platform. This will help the administration in planning and prompt and effective decision making in case of an emergency and also to counteract any disaster on a timely manner.

The web GIS portal has been made available in the following platform: www.asdma.gov.in and www.onlineasdma.assam.gov.in

ASDMA has mapped out the open spaces in all the 31 wards under Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) boundary. The purpose of this mapping exercise is to assess the availability of open ground for setting up shelter in the likelihood of earthquake as the city is densely populated. The mapping exercise was carried out on the google earth satellite imageries followed by extensive ground validation using handheld GPS devices. Assam State Disaster Management Authority has carried out earthquake and fire safety sensitization programme in 200 apartments of Guwahati within 72 days with the help of team of officers from ASDMA, Fire & Emergency Services, Assam, Civil Defence Volunteers. The programme was launched on 13th June 2016 and ended on 22nd August 2016. This sensitization drive facilitated a direct interface of the community with the Government institution and the interaction and promotion of the safety aspects have, therefore, been very encouraging. ASDMA in collaboration with National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad has updated the Flood Hazard Atlas of Assam with 18 years data set. The flood hazard atlas is available in printed form and also in public domain at http://asdma.gov.in/flood_hazard.html/

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has designed & developed an online MIS on Search & Rescue Equipments for District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) & SDMA State HQ. This online MIS is a web based application which can be used by the State & District Disaster Management Authorities with the help of authenticated user id & password.
